Taking Care of Your Jewelry

14k Gold-Filled

Gold filled can last a very long time, but it is heavily dependent on several lifestyle and environmental factors- humidity, exposure to chemicals, sweat, body chemistry. However, most customers can shower with it and wear it daily with no issues.

I recommend a polishing cloth (which is included with some larger pieces or cuffs). These can be used on all metals. If you want to go the homemade route, you can use some warm water and a tiny amount of mild dish soap. You can use an old toothbrush to get into the crevices. Let it sit for about 2 minutes, take out and thoroughly dry the piece to prevent spotting.

BRASS

Over time, brass and bronze can get dark or dull. It's super easy to polish your pieces at home, using all natural products. All you need to shine up your brass is lemon, baking soda, and salt.

Try these tricks to polish your pieces-

1. Cut a slice of lemon and sprinkle salt on it. Rub the lemon slice over your piece, rinse with water and dry with a soft cloth.
2. For tougher tarnish, make a paste from baking soda, lemon and water. Use an old toothbrush, cloth or any soft bristle brush to apply the paste. Brush, rinse and dry.
3. If you're looking for something quick, instant and portable, use a treated polishing cloth.

SILVER

Silver tends to become darker over time, especially if you wear it daily and keep in on when you shower (as I tend to do with earrings). You can care for your .925 silver at home, with things you may already have in your cabinet.

White vinegar and baking soda: Use this gentle cleaner to remove heavy tarnish that’s preventing you from polishing your silver. Soak the tarnished piece in a solution of 1/2 cup white vinegar and 2 tbsp. baking soda (be prepared for the fizzing!) for two to three hours, then rinse and dry.
